Why do they cost so much? Sometimes people are surprised by the cost. The
cost of the carriers I sell are comparable to other carriers you can buy at the big
box stores but the carriers I sell have many more benefits!
~They are *much* more comfortable. Just try it on and you will see!
~They have a longer use--from newborns to 35 lbs (your average 3 year old!)
And many parents use it with the 2nd and 3rd child too.
~They are not made in China. They are hand woven and some are made in the
USA which pay higher wages and those that are made in Guatemala are made
by artisans that are paid a fair living wage.
~We also are a much smaller company started by moms.
~Another factor is some of the material used is organic and that costs more than
regular fabric.
Why are the babies legs spread so wide, isn't that bad for them? Actually
it is perfect positioning for babies and toddlers. Just imagine yourself sitting on a
swing the wrong way where you hang and your legs are straight. Now imagine
yourself sitting on a swing the correct way--with the swing supporting your
bottom and thighs and legs fully. Which do you think is more comfortable? The
snugli/bjorn front carriers have the baby hanging on a peice of fabric that is only
4 inches wide. Also, as they get bigger their straight legs hang longer and as
you walk your legs hit them. Now with a sling or a mei tai your carry your child
how you would normally carry your child on your hip. Notice how their legs
spread out and wrap around you and then their legs are not so long where you
would be hitting them as you walk.
Can they breath in there? Yes they can. But just like any baby carrier or any
baby product you need to be aware of them and make sure they have good air
flow.
Is it too hot for the baby? No, but you will find you don't need to dress your
baby in many layers of clothes.
Is it too hot for the person using the carrier? It is no hotter than it would be
if you had to hold your baby in your arms.
